Things that I am giving up for Lent 2009
Since I was so successful last year in my Lent-induced self-discipline, I believe I should continue the tradition of giving thing up for Lent.1 Here’s what I’m working on abstaining from this Lenten season:

Also, because I don’t believe in setting the bar too high for myself, I have authored another Lenten ListVICES THAT I AM EMBRACING FOR LENT 2009.

1 Can you believe I've been cable-and-Backgammon-free for a whole year?!
2 Streetmeat not included. Also, I am mostly abstaining from eating out to stand in solidarity with Julie Anna.4
3 This should be made easier by the fact that Spring Break is falling right in the middle of Lent, and I will consequently find myself in a remote internet-less village in Guatemala (making both "work hours" and "Facebook checkage" a non-issue for two whole weeks.
4 But also to coax my bank account back into the black. After all, it is Black History Month.5
5 And as a halfrican, I'd like to wish you all a Happy Negro-Appreciation Month!

- sloth
- gluttony
- Eating out.2 (See gluttony)
- Checking Facebook during work hours.3 (See sloth)
